The mission of Alchemilla is to remind people of their close connection with nature and its ability to maintain and improve both physical and mental health.

The name Alchemilla is chosen in honor of lady’s mantle (Alchemilla vulgaris), which has been known since ancient times as a plant with magical healing properties, a very wide range of medicinal uses, and has even been used in both witchcraft and experiments to obtain the philosopher’s stone and the elixir of life.

My name is Zane Margarita Altenburga and I am the founder of the Alchemilla project. Since early childhood I have been fascinated by nature’s ability to influence human health and emotional well-being. I did grow up in the countryside therefore being in nature, collecting wild plants and cultivating herbs has always been part of my daily life. One may say I am a herbalist by calling.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in German philology and a master’s degree in literature science. In 2005, I requalified and have been working in tourism ever since. As a tour leader in the Baltic region, I have always sought ways to create additional value for travelers, allowing them to enjoy various region-specific experiences. Plant Adventures are created with the aim to immerse travelers deeper into the authentic Latvian mindset, which also means being part of nature and caringly using its benefits.

Currently I am diving deeper into the secrets of the plant kingdom by studying aromatherapy at the Aromahead Institute (USA), an institution accredited by the International Aromatherapy Association. I also enjoy regularly updating my expertise through various courses organized by renowned aromatherapists worldwide, as well as international conferences.
